Moving from Portugal to USA
Hello everyone !!!!!!!
I live in Portugal, in Lisbon, and will move to live in USA, in Tampa, i hope, if everything goes right, by November 2009.
I have a dog, a poodle of 11 years old, with 11 pounds (5 kilogrames), he sleeps in my bed and is very close to me. And I´m thinking to bring him with me to live in USA.
The problem is that he is too big to travel next to me, and needs to go on the luggage place. And I´m really afraid he is traumatized by the trip or that he even dies.
I already look in some sites and it seems that Continental Airlines is the one who offers me a more quality service for my dog to arrive alive in his destination.
My question is : Do you know any company airline who can allow you to buy an empty seat next to you, so my dog can travel next to me, inside his cage?
My dog is already 11 years old and suffers from heart condition, I´m worried that he may die if he goes with the luggage.

Eu vivo em Los Angeles e viajo muito para Portugal. A Continental nao e ma pro seu cao. Eu escolhi a Air France e dei-me muito bem. A Alaska Airlines a meu ver e a melhor de todas, voce preenche um talao que vai pegado a gaiola e quando o cao entra no aviao eles tiram esse talao e vao entrega-lo a si dentro do aviao dizendo "Relax, Your animal is onboard too!".
A minha cadela tem 13 anos e eu sofro do mesmo martirio que voce. A semana passada descobri que como a monha cadela tem uma educaccao muito esmerada, eu posso comprar na internet ($60) um certificado mais B.I. e uma capa e registar o animal como "Animal de Assistencia" e assim poderei viajar com a minha cadela para toda a parte do mundo e estar com ela em todos os lugares publicos e nao me a podem proibir. Leia ai em Portugal na Sapo.pt o Decreto-Lei 74/2007 e ficara a saber mais desta soluccao que eu consegui descobrir ao fim de tantos de viajar ou ficar em hoteis de segunda. Hello and thanks for your post. Continental is the best airline if you are going to fly your pet under the passenger cabin, as well as KLM and Lufthansa.
As far as I know, there are not any airlines that will let you buy one seat to fly with your pet next to you. However, recently a woman bought an entire business class section to fly with her pet (and it cost $15,000 USD!).

Unfortunately I dont have money to buy an entire business class. I´m 37 years old and never went in the business class myself, travelled a lot, always in economy.
I´m considering Continental Airlines for sure.
