I'm doing the same, or close. Moving from FL to AK and traveling through Canada along the way. Any advice would be very much appreciated. I have a Jeep and plan on putting the cat in a kennel in the back but not sure about feeding and bathroom breaks. Getting the cat across the Canadian border and then into Alaska is even more daunting. Thx for your help!
Hey David, seems like a fun Journey ahead! The good news, is that the paperwork should be easy as long as you have the patience to visit a Vet in Canada on your way to AK (every time you cross the border, you need new health docs to help when you cross the next border (US pet to Canada...then Canada pet to US). The bad news, cats make for loud travelmates the first 10 hours or so of driving..then they chill out and enjoy the scenery! Enjoy the trip and you can also visit http://tinyurl.com/capw9f for the import requirements for moving cats to Canada!
Rocco, thanks bud, very nice of you to offer your knowledge! What is the best way to transport my cat in the car? I'm not sure how to begin the feeding and bathroom breaks thing. Especially on a 4500 mile trip. Any advice?
Hey David, if you are planning on driving - I would get the biggest crate possible and a small litter box in the back...or, find a way to screen in your entire backseat and enjoy the ride! :-)
