We are moving to the UK and are attempting to get our Great Dane there. Does anyone have suggestions on how to find a crate big enough for him. We wish we had the money to allow a professional company take over, but we are trying to do it ourselves.
Hi Camii, You can try Wal-Mart or Craig's list? Sometime you can find used crate for sell at minimal price on craig's list. Depends how much you want to pay for a crate that your dog would only use it once? Good luck. ;-) -Emily & Chunky
Hi Camii,
A Great Dane most likely will not fit according to International Animal Transportation Laws into a standard sized crate, even the largest one that may be available at the pet stores etc. My guess is that you will have to have one modified or made for you (depending on the size of your dog), and it will take a couple weeks at least to get that done so allow yourself plenty of time so your dog can get used to his new flight kennel well before the move. It would make him a lot less anxious if he/she were comfortable being in his/her crate for some period of time before your actual flight date. We ship pets from the US and other countries to the UK several times per week and I can tell you that the airlines are VERY strict regarding the regulation that the animals have room to stand up fully in their kennels with their heads/necks totally erect and have a few inches between the top of their head and the kennel. They also must be able to turn around easily and reciline without any restrictions. I hope this helps ...... Sandy ....... VIP PET TRANSPORT ...... http://www.vippettransport.com
