If you want to bring your dog with you from Brazil to the UK, be aware that your dog subject to Britain’s tough quarantine regulations. However, the recent improvement of passports for pets means that pet-lovers can avoid long periods of quarantine. ( see here Qualifying non-European Union countries and territories http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/pets/travel/pets/procedures/s... - Brazil is not qualifying country under the EU Regulation)

Costs of quarantine in the UK are approximatly £300/month for dogs

Your dog can do his quarantine off-shore for 6 months period or in other words you need to llok for Alternative Quarantine in South America. There are only 2 countries that allow to do so in SOuth America : Chile & Argentina. (see more at http://petsventura.com/AlternativeQuarantine.aspx )

To be eligible for the PETS Travel Scheme, your dogmust meet the following conditions:
1. It must have been resident in the EU or non-EU listed countries (Chile or Argentina)
2. It must first have had a microchip implanted and then have been vaccinated, in that order, against rabies
3. It must have had a blood sample taken (this is normally done a month after the vaccination in order to allow it to take effect; if the animal has been regularly vaccinated then this period can be shortened, your vet can advise) and this sample must have been tested at an approved laboratory
4. It must have been treated against ticks and tapeworm not less than 24 and not more than 48 hours before being checked-in with an approved transport company for its journey into the UK
5. It must have an EU Pet Passport in accordance with European Regulation 998/2003. The Passport will be issued directly by the Official Local Veterinary Authority (ASL)
6. Shipping ONLY by Cargo flight (no access luggage)
