If you're moving...Where are you moving to?
San Francisco, California
If you already moved...Where did you move to?
Paris, France
Have you moved your pet(s) before?
Yes
If you've moved your pet, describe your move (from where to where, the challenges you faced, new places you've found, how your pets fared, airlines you used, etc.)
I moved my large dog to Paris from San Francisco via DIRECT FLIGHT (very important) on Air France. It is important to alert the captain of the plane, and the flight attendants that your pet is in the hold (so they can manage the air circulation and temp). Luckily I ran into the flight staff while checking in with my dog, and the whole group of them came to say hello to my dog and they were very caring, speaking to me on the plane and reassuring me. Upon arrival in Paris, my dog was waiting alone in his kennel, near the door out of the
baggage claim (who would have guessed? instead of being presented at baggage claim where I waited) Good to know for Paris - leave the baggage claim area to find your pet.
There are lots of private van taxi's immediately outside on the curb. It cost me 120dollars flat rate to transport my dog and I into Paris from CDG. Note: I would use a no-spill water dispenser (water is important) because my bowl of water spilled all over my dog's bedding and maybe he relieved himself as well. His crate pad was quite saturated when we reached Paris, which I immediately threw away in the airport
(my dog rode in the taxi without his crate). I had a fresh new bed waiting for my dog in our new home in Paris, and that made my dog EXTREMELY happy (rolling all over it, upside down and playful) because I think he felt cared-about and like he had a PLACE (understood we were home). I also talked to my dog, which really made him feel peaceful.
If you're thinking of or planning on moving your pet, when are you planning on moving?
Back to the United States (San Francisco, CA)
