Moving from the US to Beijing, China

Hello all,
I am planning to move to Beijing this year from the US. And I HAVE to take my baby with me, she's a little pomeranian who's 2.5 yrs old, and only weighs 5.4lbs...
I know there's a mandatory 30 days quarantine in Beijing, China, but have also heard as long as you hire the right pet move agent, this can be waived, which can be turned into a "at home" quarantine instead.
I have contact a few agents out there some are in China, and some are here in the States. They all say they can help with my concern, and I am planning to ride with my baby on the same plane (cabin).

Anyone who's have similar experience before? Can I trust these pet movers? I have to GUARANTEE that my baby won't get locked up as we arrive...

Any info would help!

Thanks a million!

I just saw this post, I'm movng from Hong Kong back to my home in Ireland with my two dogs next week and I am using a great pet travel agent here. Yes many just want your money and you can do tonnes,as I did on your own and defintly better to understand the moving process. In regards to China, get lots of info, they have weird attitudes to dogs both in Hong Kong and China, many people here are scared of dogs, even my little pugs and others just see them as toys. In China they are trying to enforce a 1 dog per family law for citizens so make sure all your paper work is correct and that you can organise a liscense for your dog there. If you don't speak Mandarin an agent that does may be a big help to you. I looked online and eventually found mine through a local dog rescue website.

Hello Corina! Great question and the answer is yes and no. There are many companies who claim to help with pet moves, imports of pets, etc and these days, with the internet - you really do not know who is who behind the website. We support a group called IPATA, www.ipata.com - we suggest you find a shipper on this site and then do your own google search on that company to see if you can find any good or bad info. Many times, you will find the good in people who are here to help you with your pets - just make sure they are who they say you are!
